General background
Hook is a smart desktop speaker adapted for home and office environments. It contains a high-quality audio system with TDK 360 technology and a digital touchscreen that can be used for the Internet and other media applications. Hook integrates with smart home systems and thus can control several smart devices. For example, it can be used for phone calls, scheduling appointments, notifying alerts, playing music, viewing traffic status and weather forecasts.
Design process
To understand the solution, one needs to understand the problem. As part of the research activity around home environment scenarios, we defined guidelines to handle a scenario and method of use. The object's general volumes and its hierarchical location of elements emanate from the product's use methods.
Form development
The decision to work with cylinders as base configurations stemmed from the natural selection of engineering design structures and the scattering of sound waves in a circular manner in space. The lower part of the speaker is designed to produce weight and stability for shock reduction, providing a smooth and high-quality sound experience that combines wireless charging and an LED strip that indicates the battery charge level.
